Immigration Assessments

Darcy McLean Aguilar, LMFT, offers psychological evaluations for immigration purposes.

As an immigrant myself, this issue is very near and dear to my heart. The entire immigration process is complicated, can be very scary, and feel completely overwhelming. I am here to help support this process for those pursuing immigration. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and with extensive specialized training and experience in conducting evaluations and report preparation for immigration legal proceedings. The main types of cases I see might include:

* Extreme Hardship

* Asylum

* VAWA (Violence Against Women Act)

* U-VISA

I am fluent in English, and have excellent resources for language translation services. I am also in the process of learning Spanish! Please know that all psychological reports and immigration assessments are completed in English to support the USA Court processes. I will work with your attorney to ensure the needs are met to support your specific case needs.

Assessment interviews are completed in person in my clinical office, or online using video TeleHealth (Zoom), so that we may conveniently work together from any location. I am friendly and warm, and highly skilled in achieving the results needed.

The following are very common questions with answers immediately following.

What is the psychological evaluation?

It is a thorough history taking of you or your family, to understand who you are as a person or family, assess your behavior, personality, current stressors, trauma history, strengths and challenges. Typically, the assessments are completed to identify the psychological factors which impair normal thought processes, behavior, and emotional regulation. I will administer additional assessments specifically for depression, anxiety and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) issues, as appropriate, to assist in qualifying your challenges, and to support your immigration case.

How long does this take?

The entire evaluation, including any additional screenings, will take approximately two to three hours, completed in one or two meetings. Afterwards, I will prepare your Assessment Report for your attorney. This will be a very comprehensive report consisting of approximately 18-25 pages, and will take approximately three to four weeks to complete.

How much does this cost?

For a normal case, including the two hour assessment and evaluation, and the complete assessment report, the cost is $950.

What if I need the report sooner that three weeks?

I offer a rush service for an additional $350.

How can I pay for this?

I accept all forms of payment: cash, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, and all credit cards.

Payments may be made. Please ask me if this is desired.

What if I need the Assessment and cannot afford the full price?

I no longer offer pro bono services for immigration assessments.

There are no discounts for rush services.
